New Community Café in Boscombe Foodbank Centre

KTM Design has been invited to help Bournemouth Foodbank in creating a design for their new Café in St George’s Methodist Church in Boscombe.

The Foodbank is a project funded by local churches and community groups, working together to support thousands of families in Bournemouth every year by providing emergency food.

Recent opportunities have lead to the opening of a Community Café, which in terms, would help the Foodbank to be more self-sufficient, as well as creating a space for the community to come together.

Disadvantaged people coming in will be able to seat while waiting for their box, have a warm meal and simply have a more enjoyable experience.

The design aims at providing a place that is welcoming, calm and comforting to the people in need, but equally, to invite the public in and create a real hub for the community.

A light colour palette with sage accents complements the warmer tones of wood. As you walk through the space, you’ll see printed botanical graphics with encouraging words, a herb wall to sustain the kitchen needs, feature wood panelling in all its shapes. Simplicity was key, accompanied by beautiful features, natural materials and greenery, to create a relaxing and restful environment.
