home Office interior design process

Step 1: Design brief

Firstly, we’ll conduct a site visit to get a deeper understanding of how the space comes together and what could be done to transform the area into a practical workspace that you’ll love.

Step 2: Concept design

We’ll then use the information from the brief to create an initial design plan, which will include 3D models, floorplans, fabrics and furniture.

Step 3: Design development

At this stage we’ll refine the interior layouts whilst also considering economic, environmental and construction needs.

Step 4: Technical design

We create a fully-detailed technical construction pack, finish schedules and FF&E specifications for the new workspace area.

Step 5: Construction

From the moment construction work begins, we’ll work closely with the contractors to ensure that the work is sticking to the design plan throughout the process.

Step 6: Handover and close out

Once construction has been completed, we’ll carry out final inspections and ensure that both ourselves and the client are happy with the home office space. If no further work needs to be done, we’ll then handover and the project will come to a close.

How to light a home office

Having an attractive home office space is important, but you also need to think practically as this is an area you will spend a great deal of time working in and you need to take care of your eyes. Having bright fluorescent lighting could lead to headaches and having dim lighting can strain your eyes. Therefore, when it comes to lighting a home office you can consider having ambient and corrective lighting as well as overhead lights to balance eachother out. If you have natural light entering the room, having your desk close to a window can also be easier on your eyes (whilst providing a view!).

Here at KTM Design our in-house lighting experts can tailor the lighting design to suit your needs. Find out more about the services we offer here
