If you’ve looked on Pinterest or Instagram lately for design inspiration you’re sure to have come across Boiserie. Otherwise known as wood panelling, the trend was extremely popular amongst French residents in the 1600s and is being revived in modern times. With recent events seeing us spend more time at home, people are looking to invest in their spaces and this quick-fit instantly brings vibrance and character to a room.

Versatile

Different shaped and sized panels bring versatility to the trend, and whether it’s on one feature wall or across the room, the panels are sure to be the focal point of the space. The living or dining room are often where people choose to incorporate said panels, but the design element can bring an innovative flair to any space.

DO IT YOURSELF

Installation is fairly easy, so if you didn’t want a professional to do it, panelling the walls can be added to your ever-growing list of DIY lockdown home improvements! Once you have measured the space, selected the wood (this can be found at local DIY stores) and cleaned the base wall, all that’s needed is an adhesive and a steady hand!

A bold statement

You can complement the panels with art, mirrors or leave them to stand as a feature on their own, but don’t forget to leave space for electrical fixtures! If you are looking for a more intricate and unique design, this is where you may benefit from having a professional eye work on your space. Either way, the room will be a bold statement for you and your visitors (when we’re allowed them) to enjoy!
