Indis Restaurant

A rich and elegant transformation with an Art Deco twist

Indis, a small independent restaurant chain serving contemporary Indian cuisine, approached KTM Design to completely transform a former Chinese takeaway into a sophisticated dining destination. The brief called for an elegant, Art Deco inspired interior with a bold palette of deep blues and greens.

We delivered our full design service, reconfiguring the entire layout - from commercial kitchen and toilets to a rear extension - to maximise flow and enhance the customer experience. What began as a plain and featureless space was reimagined into a richly detailed interior full of charm and atmosphere.

Design elements took cues from 1920s glamour, with wallpaper inspired by the fan shapes of cabaret dancers, complemented by brass accents, Art Deco mirrors and decorative lighting fixtures. Deep blue painted walls and ceilings set a dramatic backdrop, while green banquette seating, chandeliers and coffered ceiling details added layers of depth and elegance. Panelling throughout the space helped to introduce architectural character where none existed before.

We worked closely with the client, who chose to include some of their own furniture pieces alongside our design scheme.

The result is a warm and theatrical dining space that captures the spirit of Art Deco while providing a unique and memorable setting for contemporary Indian dining.
