In June 2020, KTM Design took part in the charity event #TheJune500, organised by local nightclub owners Ty Temel of Halo and Ben Reynolds of Lost Paradise and fitness coach Jamie Whisken. The idea was to get people moving and help give a focus to elevate mental health, whilst encouraging fundraising during lockdown.

The challenge was straightforward; get 500km down in the month of June, that is to say the distance between Bournemouth and Paris. To do so you could run, swim, cycle or walk, anything that didnt require an engine.

An inspired local community of nearly 200 people took part for the occasion, raising £42,000 for Dorset Mind. Everyone on the team can agree that it was good to take advantage of the authorised daily exercice and focus our energy for helping a great cause.

“The challenge has not only benefitted both physical and mental health, it ticks every step of the ‘Five Ways to Wellbeing’ recovery model. We use this in our services to help support and maintain wellbeing. A real sense of community has grown as the challenge developed. Our amazing participants supported each other’s efforts as they documented their exercise online daily, mostly on Instagram. It’s been extremely exciting and touching to watch.”
